Eva Mendes is calling on Hollywood’s casting directors to find her a part alongside Cameron Diaz, because she’s desperate to appear onscreen with the Charlie’S Angels beauty.
The We Own The Night actress is close pals with Diaz, but the pair has yet to get the opportunity to star in a film together.
Mendes says, “I am dying to work with Cameron. She is just a really good person and I would love, love, love to work with her.”
Eva Mendes has defended her controversial advertisement for Calvin Klein perfume, an ad that was banned from American TV screens for being too raunchy.
Mendes - who flashes her nipple in the ad - has spoken out about the ban, accusing American censors of promoting violence while continuing to ban nudity.
“I’m completely American, I was born and raised in America and I love it but I think we are too quick to censor nudity,” Mendes told News.com.au during her current visit to Australia.
“Meanwhile, it’s okay to blow things up and our films are so violent and our television is so violent.
“I would rather see tasteful nudity than violence any day of the week.”
The Calvin Klein commercial features Mendes rolling around naked on a bed, flashing her cleavage and pouting to the camera.
“Between love and madness lies obsession,” Mendes, 34, says in the ad, which is being screened on cable networks.
“Love … madness. It’s my secret.”
Sexy actress EVA MENDES once considered a career as a nun.
The 34-year-old was brought up as part of a strict Catholic family by her Cuban-American parents.
And Mendes admits that her religion nearly played a big part in her career choices - until she found out about the meagre salaries given to members of the church.
She says, “I guess there is this little Catholic girl inside me somewhere. But I did want to be a nun when I was very little.
“Well, that was until my sister told me that they don’t get paid. Then, I went off the idea really quickly.”
The campaign for new perfume Secret Obsession was deemed too racy for TV because it shows a brief glimpse of her nipple
The black and white advert shows Mendes, 34, rolling on a dishevelled bed before caressing herself and showing her chest for a split second.
“Between love and madness lies obsession,” she whispers seductively during the footage. “Love…madness. It’s my secret.”
Although network bosses have pulled the advert, Calvin Klein is running the clip on its website under the headline “Eva Mendes banned advert.”
“This development is not entirely a surprise for the US.market,” said Tom Murry, president and chief operating officer of Calvin Klein Inc.
“We believe the commercial is exceptional and hits the mark for Secret Obsession. We will reach our consumers in the U.S. primarily through the Web site, the print campaign and at point of sale.
“We are anticipating a very successful global launch.”
Eva first exposed her body in the 2007 film We Own The Night. Since then she has bared all for animal rights charity Peta, in the ‘I’d rather go naked than wear fur’ campaign.
Eva Mendes insists she should be congratulated for seeking help in rehab, because it took guts for her to face her demons.
The 30-year-old actress entered Utah’s Cirque Lodge in January to “proactively” attend “to some personal issues”.
Mendes has never disclosed what demons she was battling, preferring instead to let the media speculate and “lie”.
She tells the latest issue of Interview magazine, “There are so many lies out there regarding my recent trip to Cirque Lodge. But I don’t care what people think. I just don’t care. So I will neither confirm nor deny (anything).”
But she insists the move was brave, and celebrities should be applauded for seeking help.
Mendes adds: “The other day I was reading an article. I don’t even remember who the actress was, but she’s been around for a long time. She said something like, ‘I’m proud that I’ve had a whole career without making it to rehab.’
“I thought: `That’s such a negative twist on it.’ I’m proud of people who have the determination and the fearlessness to actually go and face their demons and get better. This is a life or death situation.
“Again, I’m not a spokesperson for this, but it’s just that I want to support people for their decisions when they do go in and get help.”
Eva Mendes is in talks to join Nicolas Cage in Werner Herzog’s remake of Bad Lieutenant for Nu Image/Millennium Films.
Variety reports Billy Finkelstein has written an updated script for the film – which is based on the 1992 movie that featured Harvey Keitel and was directed by Abel Ferrara from a screenplay by Ferrara and Zoe Lund.
Edward R. Pressman is handling producing duties on the remake with Stephen Belafonte. Alan and Gabe Polsky handled the finance development of the film and are set to also produce. Shooting will take place late this summer.
Nu Image/Millennium’s Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short and Boaz Davidson are handling executive producing duties with Elliot Rosenblatt and Alessandro Camon. Randall Emmett and Cage’s Saturn Films will also serve as producers on the film.
The original film (which had an NC-17 rating) followed Keitel’s corrupt cop as he investigated a nun’s rape. Keitel’s character was a depraved New York police officer who was heavily involved with drugs, gambling, sex and stealing.
Mendes and Cage shared the screen together in the action flick Ghost Rider. Mendes will return to the screen in ensemble comedy The Women. She also has a role in Frank Miller’s The Spirit.
Eva Mendes may have checked herself into rehab in January to prepare for a new movie, in which she plays a Spanish drug lord, reports Star magazine.
The 30-year-old actress entered Utah’s Cirque Lodge to “proactively” attend “to some personal issues,” her representative explained at the time.
The move shocked Hollywood, until Mendes landed a role alongside Josh Hartnett and Sir Ben Kingsley in “Queen of the South,” which follows her character, Teresa Mendoza, as she flees Mexico for Spain when her drug-runner boyfriend is murdered.
And now there is speculation Mendes may have been researching the role in rehab — a theory backed by acting coach John Kirby.
He tells Star, “It’s not unusual at all for an actor or actress to go to the extreme of checking into rehab to prepare for a character.
“In fact, I would encourage that for my students, because you want to fully immerse yourself in the role.”
